Joseph Carter

Joseph E. Carter is an advisor at Strategies for Wealth New York, NY. Joseph works closely with individuals and families to deliver a wide range of wealth management offerings, including investment management, trust and estate planning, credit and banking, and philanthropic strategies.

Joseph has particular depth in catering to the needs of active wealth builders, providing them with customized advice to evaluate opportunities and pursue their priorities with forethought and care. As a proponent of long-term planning, he cultivates deep relationships with clients, helping them capitalize on resources and capabilities throughout the firm. In keeping with this mission, Joseph coordinates the efforts of a team of locally based specialists, who work in concert to deliver robust analysis and engagement.

Prior to joining Strategies for Wealth, Joseph was a Managing Director of Community Development at The Private Bank in Chicago. In this capacity, he facilitated client access to capital, while leading the bank's civic involvement through non-profit board representation and community outreach. Previously, Joseph held senior private banking roles with J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Fifth Third Bank. He began his wealth management career in 2003. He holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he graduated with distinction. He earned his B.S. from Howard University, where he was actively involved in Army ROTC. He proudly served his country as a combat arms officer in the United States Army after graduating as the Distinguished Military Graduate of his class.

A native of Louisiana, Joseph now lives in Montclair, New Jersey, with his wife and three children. He is deeply connected to his local community and volunteers with a number of charitable organizations.
